    (** Stuffed toy hedgehog!)I stitched velcro to a stuffed hedgehog dog toy, slapped it on the Piranha body, and took it out in the back yard late this evening, my twin Jack Russell Terminators tagging along curiously (salivating at the sight of a new toy) We've dubbed him, predictably, "Sonic".Far too much hilarity ensued, especially for my little girl - always the "brave" (psychotic) hunter. She'd chase the hedgehog, he'd flip around, and chase her, flip around, she'd chase him. Leaves spraying 4ft in the air as it never really got traction in the mud and fresh-fallen leaves from the storm earlier that day.Reverse is finicky bordering on unusable; the trigger on the remote really doesn't want to find it very well, and when it does, response is incredibly slow. I contemplated a 3 star rating, but Yin enjoyed herself too much and insisted it was four stars.8min 41sec into his run, Yin finally pounced on Sonic, ripped him unceremoniously off the "truggy" and absconded off to beat the snot out of him. We tried again a few minutes later, this time with better camera placement, and the batteries were effectively flat, little to no challenge.Battery life bombing around in the soft muddy ground and loose leaves is something akin to ten minutes. I'd definitely suggest a larger battery and fast charger! And tires. The tires stink. They clog up and it's like driving on glass.But given that a decent dog toy can run upwards of $30, with no real interactivity - and the giggles I got from trading off the hunter and prey with the Twins? Totally worth a hundred dollars to us. If they broke it, I'd just buy another next month...Now, if I can just get her littermate to pursue it instead of just standing back and egging her on? That'd be awesome! ;)

    I rated it 5/5, this is based on its very low price (I paid $90) and the overall value - if we are comparing it to all R/C cars it would be lower on an absolute scale, it is an entry level vehicle. BUT it’s “hobby grade” which means it’s built using proper parts and can even be upgraded easily if you wanted. I did buy a 5000 battery but no LiPo. I live in S Florida and the big battery will trip the overheat protection on the ESC but the stock battery is no problem. It’s fast enough for bombing around my yard or the park and so far tough as nails. I’ve cartwheeled it, slammed it into stuff, etc and no harm has come to it - a couple of the ball ends popped off and the body is scuffed to hell. I might upgrade the shocks to some cheap aftermarket ones as the stock ones are friction based and not very sturdy, I did try and swap a different servo in but it was a little too large. Overall though it’s a great truck and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a sub $100 vehicle that is of good quality.

    Amazing product y’all!! Unreal you can get this whole Ready to run out the box RC car for just $129. Comes with a 2000 mah Battery that isn’t the best but there are alternatives from Hexfly (Redcat) and others. I have found that it heats up HOT pretty quick after going through two 2200 MAH batteries from hexfly. But it’s much more than I expected at the price I paid.

One started making a bad noise in the gearbox, moments later it stopped moving. Inside the gear box are two small gears, both of these were completely stripped. We don't slam it from forward to reverse or vice versa, bit just gave out mid run...Weak.
    The other car had an issue with the controller. The steering potentiometer froze up completely, couldn't turn the steering at all. Took it apart and worked it loose with some rubbing alcohol but not everyone is going to do that.
    The worst part is that being exclusive model to Amazon, there aren't many parts out there for this model and Amazon doesn't carry much. A new gear box ran about $30...for an $85 car, that stings a bit. Not to mention it takes over a week to get parts in...Would be cool to be able to buy gears individually. All on Amazon?

    I'd still buy it again. We have a two acre field and this thing tears it up! The value is good for what you get. Hopefully in the near future Amazon will step up their game with parts and accessories. If you are going to sell an exclusive model, you gotta provide the fun that goes with it.

    I bought this for my 3year old. He loves it, we take it off jumps and race it through the dirt, mud, grasss and on the street. Way faster than we need, I put a tie strap on the trigger to cut the speed in half after awhile but it is still plenty fast for him. He has run it full speed into a mailbox and it broke the mailbox but didn’t hurt the car. His other favorite thing to do is “climb the tree” he runs it full speed into a large tree and runs about 4’ up then falls.
    I’d love to figure out how to upgrade the remote to one that will allow me to reduce the forward and reverse speed. I’d also like to get another body, maybe a different type as we have rolled this thing so much I can’t see this one lasting too much longer.
    We upgraded to 3000 mah batteries and they are awesome but do get hot when you are running hard. I’d guess we are getting 25 to 30 mins on those.
    I wish this truck was listed on redcat’s site, but this appears to be an Amazon only vehicle, so I am a bit worried about how to get replacement parts when the time comes.
    My reverse works fine, it’s just too fast and get wobbly if you goose it in reverse. You have to “double tap” for reverse which is likely a safety feature so you don’t slam it in reverse by accident a full forward speed.

    UPDATE 6/9/2020
    -After a month of use (always ran with stock battery ) gearbox gears stripped out ,but Redcat was generous and sent replacement gearbox assembly
    -Aprox. 8-10 batteries with new gearbox gears stripped out again ,but I was able to salvage gears from original gearbox to make it functional again. Lasted 1 battery and gears stripped the 3rd time.
    -I've contacted Redcat twice about this issue again and no response after a months time
    -Ordered a 3rd brand new gearbox assembly ,but I have very little confidence the gears will last in this one.

    Basically I changed my 5 star review to a 2 star because for what looked like an excellent product out of the box is now showing the lack of durability in its drive train. Save your money and do not buy this RC car.

    Make sure when you purchase this truggy you order some spare gears (REDCAT part #BS709-038) with it. I had read reviews about the gears being the weak point and they were telling the truth. I got it out of the box, charged up the battery, and took it outside for about 10 mins. Then boom no movement. Took apart transmission to find three teeth of this gear sheared off already. Before that happens the car is quick and goes through the grass like butter. Just not dependable. I really wouldn't say it's good for beginners because you will have to know how to take it apart to fix the gear.

    My piranha arrived with nothing but the car, controller, shell and fin - no batteries, no manual, nothing. Redcat told me that's how they ship - that is beyond untrue. Understand that this is customer support giving me, a brand new customer, misinformation at this very basic level - I don't want to think how frustrating it would be if I had a real issue with the Piranha - is customer support going to lie to me then, too? The truggy is extremely delicate and the steering servo is weak - it has an excessive turning radius and the wheels will turn only partially to the left or right when running at max speed (my GPS speedometer read 25kph, max). The rear of the motor is exposed and the wires to it are routinely severed by tall grass, twigs, etc. when in use. When customer service doesn't care? It's usually a good idea to pass.
