Build the box correct and they soy a great when compared to the others... When you factor price in they are a top notch product. I went sealed and a little larger... 1.1 cubic..... And the speaker performs great with 500w via ds18 candy amp..

I've had subwoofers in my cars for 25 years. My very first were a pair of Kicker Competitions. I later had a 10" Kicker L5. Still use it occasionally after 12 years. The L5 even outlasted it's first enclosure. Sometimes I use higher end subs with high power ratings and excursion, in tuned enclosures. But these are big, heavy and take up valuable space. I wanted to try something different and built a small sealed enclosure in the center of my spare tire. I used this shallow Kicker for that purpose. My existing amp, at a minimum, was going to send out 600 underrated watts @ 4ohms, so I chose this Kicker sub because it had the highest RMS rating of any shallow 12" DVC subs I could find. I'm still exceeding the sub's RMS rating of 500 watts, but I was with my L5 too and it's still going strong. Before my first listen, I had very low expectations for this sub. But it actually sounds good for what it is. It sounds very similar to my Kicker L5 but with a bit more midbass peak, being in a smaller sealed box. I have it very well balanced with the rest of the system, whereas my SPL sub was just too overpowering. I found myself listening to music differently because I could actually hear more of the frequency spectrum. Plus, this sub is completely hidden under the floor of my hatch in the center of the spare tire, not to mention the weight savings. My car actually felt faster without a big heavy box in the back. I think it's a little overpriced, but as long as it doesn't burn up, I'll probably run this setup for a long time. In my experience, Kicker subs can handle a little more than their RMS rating as long as your amp isn't clipping, so make sure your gain is set correctly. Give it a gentle break-in for a few days and enjoy.

So I had it paired up with a 400.1 kicker amp. When I actually used the system in my car for more than an hour the coils went out. Messaged seller and manufacturer and was denied because it was "abuse" of the speaker lol I loved Kicker until this. Not worth the money time or product. Cheap!
